Bears sign Troy Nolan

Chris Conte is dealing with a hamstring injury that will likely keep him out this week. For that reason, the Chicago Bears today signed four-year veteran safety Troy Nolan.

The Chicago Bears signed S Troy Nolan today. The 6-2, 200-pound Nolan has appeared in 37 games with seven starts over four seasons with the Houston Texans (2009-12) and Miami Dolphins (2012).

After being selected in the seventh round (223rd overall) by the Texans out of Arizona State in the 2009 NFL Draft, Nolan has recorded 73 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass defenses, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

This season, Nolan has appeared in seven games with one start for Houston and Miami, recording five tackles.

Nolan will take the roster spot of WR Dane Sanzenbacher, who was released by the team on Monday. Sanzenbacher was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday.
