Bears sign tight end Leonard Pope

The Chicago Bears have signed tight end Leonard Pope and waived tight end Brody Eldridge.

BOURBONNAIS, IL – The Chicago Bears signed TE Leonard Pope to a one-year contract and waived TE Brody Eldridge.

The 6-8, 264-pound Pope has started 51-of-103 contests over seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2006-08), Kansas City Chiefs (2009-11) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2012) hauling in 105 receptions for 982 yards (9.4 ypc) and 11 touchdowns. He has appeared in at least 13 contests all seven seasons and all 16 contests four times (2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012) including three-straight years. In 2012 with the Steelers, the Americus, Ga. native appeared in all 16 contests with two starts, grabbing three receptions for nine yards and two touchdowns. A year earlier with Kanas City, Pope set career highs with 24 receptions and 247 receiving yards while adding one touchdown catch.
