Bears claim Bass; waive Ozougwu

The Chicago Bears have claimed defensive end David Bass of waivers and waived defensive end Cheta Ozougwu.

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears have claimed DE David Bass off of waivers and waived DE Cheta Ozougwu.

Bass was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round (233rd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Missouri Western State. Collegiately, Bass set a school record with 40.5 career sacks after starting 50 consecutive contests. He earned All-American honors as a junior and senior and was a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, presented to the top lineman in the Division II, in his senior campaign.

Ozougwu appeared in two contests for the Bears last season, collecting three tackles and one tackle for a loss.
