Cutler will start Sunday for Bears

Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler is recovered from his ankle sprain and has been cleared to play this weekend against the Browns, where he will make his ninth start of the season.

Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman was optimistic yesterday that quarterback Jay Cutler would be able to play this week. Yet he still needed to put Cutler through one last workout before clearing him to play. That workout went well and Cutler was on the practice field this afternoon. As a result, Cutler will re-assume his starting role on the Bears' offense.

"It's going to be Jay," Trestman said after practice. "There was no residual issue, no swelling [in the ankle]. I expect Jay to play well, play efficiently."

The news sends Josh McCown back to the bench, after being named NFC Offensive Player of the Week following Monday's five-touchdown performance.
