According to the official NFL transaction wire, the Chicago Bears have been awarded wide receiver Josh Bellamy off waivers.
Bellamy (6-0, 206) is a former 2012 undrafted free agent originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs. He appeared in three games his rookie season, accumulating two special teams tackles and returning five kickoffs for 101 yards.
The Redskins signed Bellamy to their practice squad last year before elevating him to the active roster in late November. He played five games for Washington, recording two special teams tackles.
The addition of Bellamy now gives the Bears eight wide receivers on the current roster. He'll likely compete for a spot on special teams, both as a gunner and a returner.
