Bears cut Fendi Onobun

The Chicago Bears have released tight end Fendi Onobun.

During minicamp practice this afternoon, Chicago Bears tight end Fendi Onobun dropped three point-blank passes. This has been a recurring theme with Onobun, who last year dropped an easy touchdown pass in the preseason.

Onobun isn't much of a blocker and has very little value on special teams. As a result, the team has informed him that he will be cut.

The Bears have not yet made the move official.

Onobun spent last season on Chicago's practice squad. A former collegiate basketball player at the University of Arizona, Onobun was considered a possible No. 2 pass-catching option for the Bears due to his size and athleticism, yet his unreliable hands were too much to overlook.

Onobun will be free to sign with any other NFL team once he's officially released.
