Bears extend contract of Jerry Azumah

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears signed cornerback Jerry Azumah to a four-year contract extension today.

The third-year pro out of New Hampshire is now inked with the Bears until 2005. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Azumah made four starts in 2000 and in 14 games had 28 tackles, one interception and defended seven passes.

The 5-10, 195-pounder has concentrated on two roles during the preseason, playing defensive back and returning kickoffs.

Last weekend against the Chiefs, Azumah intercepted a Todd Collins pass and returned the second half kickoff 49 yards.
