Bears waive nine players

The Chicago Bears have cut six rookies and waived three veterans, including veterans S Adrian Wilson and DT Nate Collins.

With the first round of cuts upcoming, the Chicago Bears have waived the following players:

RB Michael Ford
WR Greg Herd
WR Kofi Hughes
T Joe Long
CB Derricus Purdy
CB Peyton Thompson

The team has also waived the following vested veterans:

DT Nate Collins
G/C Dylan Gandy
S Adrian Wilson

There are no real surprises with this group of nine cuts. Collins never appeared fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered last season. Wilson was worth a shot but he just didn't show the movement and speed needed to play in the NFL.

Chicago's roster is now down to 81 active players.
