The Chicago Bears have waived the following vested veterans:
Palmer was signed late last season and competed with Jimmy Clausen to be Jay Cutler's backup during training camp and the preseason. Clausen showed much better arm strength and decision making, so this move isn't much of a surprise.
A former second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers, Clausen has started 10 games during his NFL career. He's picked up Marc Trestman's offense quickly and has been the much more decisive signal caller during the preseason.
Waiving Senn comes as a bit of a surprise, as he was a member of nearly every first-team special-teams unit for coordinator Joe DeCamillis. This cut opens the door for undrafted rookie linebacker Christian Jones, as well as Jerry Franklin, to claim the club's sixth linebacker position.
