Williams, signed in Week 17 last season off the New Orleans Saints practice squad, spent all of training camp and the preseason with the Bears, yet was released during final cuts.
In two preseason games, Williams caught four passes for 94 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown in the opener. He missed missed two preseason contests with a hamstring injury, which further fueled concerns about his durability - he's just 5-7, 175.
Williams was a record-setting kick returner in the CFL in 2012, returning six kicks for touchdowns. The Bears are struggling to create impact on kick and punt returns, and Williams would give them another option if he's ever called up to the active roster.
