The Chicago Bears have announced that the 2015 NFL Draft will be held at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University on April 30-May 2. This is the first time the NFL Draft has been held in Chicago since 1964 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel, where the 1963 and 1962 drafts were also held.
Chicago became a finalist to host the draft, along with Los Angeles, back in July.
According to the NFL, one important prerequisite was the ability to host a fan festival in an adjacent indoor or outdoor space from the draft site. Grant Park is located is located just down the street.
The previous nine drafts have been held in New York's Radio City Music Hall. Each draft from 1965-2014 was held in New York City.
The Auditorium Theatre, a music and performance venue, is located at 50 E. Congress Parkway. It opened in 1889 and was renovated in 1967. It was designed by Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan and has a total capacity of 3,929.
