LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears elevated CB Terrance Mitchell to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, waived LB Terrell Manning and signed S Shamiel Gary and TE Jacob Maxwell to the practice squad.
Mitchell has been on the Bears practice squad the entire season after he entered the NFL as a 2014 seventh round selection (254th overall) of the Dallas Cowboys out of Oregon. The Sacramento, Calif. native appeared in 40 games with 38 starts for Oregon, recording 144 tackles, seven interceptions – including one returned for a touchdown - four forced fumbles and 25 pass break-ups.
Maxwell entered the NFL with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana-Lafayette. The 6-4, 240-pound Pearl River, La. native spent the first five weeks of the season of the Miami Dolphins practice squad. He appeared in 50 games during his collegiate career, hauling in 36 receptions for 377 yards (10.5) and six touchdowns.
Gary entered the NFL this season as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots out of Oklahoma State. Collegiately, Gary made 47 appearances at Oklahoma State (2012-13) and Wyoming (2009-10), recording 311 tackles, six interceptions, 26 passes break-ups and one forced fumble. He was with the Bears 53-man roster last week before being waived on Saturday.
