Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman today shot down recent reports the team has considered benching quarterback Jay Cutler.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman remains firm in his support of quarterback Jay Cutler.
Trestman shot down a report that the Bears considered benching their quarterback during last month's win over Tampa Bay, saying Cutler has been "the guy we've had in there and wanted to play."
Trestman adds that Cutler "as a very good understanding of how we feel about him."
Trestman was more vague when it came to defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. Trestman would not confirm or deny a decision has been reached on whether to keep Tucker. The Bears (5-8) are at the bottom of the NFC North.
