LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears placed WR Brandon Marshall on the reserve/injured list due to a rib injury, elevated WR Josh Bellamy to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and signed LB Jonathan Brown to the practice squad.
The five-time Pro Bowler (2008, ‘09, ‘11-‘13 seasons) has caught 773 passes for 9,771 yards (12.6 ypc) with 65 touchdowns during his nine-year NFL career. Since entering the NFL in 2006, he ranks third in the league in receptions and fifth in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
While a member of the Bears, Marshall has grabbed 279 receptions, 3,524 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns, ranking third in the NFL in receptions, seventh in receiving yards and fourth in touchdown receptions since 2012. This season, Marshall collected 61 receptions for 721 yards (12.6 ypc) and eight touchdowns.
Bellamy has appeared in nine games over three seasons with Kansas City (2012), Washington (2013) and Chicago (2014), appearing mostly on special teams. He also spent time on San Diego’s practice squad in 2013 and Kansas City’s in 2012.
Brown entered the NFL this season as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois. The 6-1, 230-pound Memphis, Tenn. native played in 45 games (30 starts), recording 317 tackles - including 14 sacks and 45.5 tackles for losses - three interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries during his four seasons at Illinois. He was a three-time All-Big Ten selection and a 2012 Butkus Award semifinalist, while leading the Illini in tackles in 2011 and 2013.
