Bears to tackle hunger

LAKE FOREST, IL -Members of the Chicago Bears defensive line will find out how much they weigh, in relation to cans of Campbell's Chunky Soup.

The amount of soup it takes to tip the scales of the Bears line will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The weigh-in will take place Thursday, August 30 at noon at Halas Hall in Lake Forest.

As part of Campbell's Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger 2001 program, linemen throughout the NFL will be "weighed in" on a giant soupspoon scale during NFL training camps.

Campbell will donate 10 times each participating player's weight in Chunky Soup to a local food bank of his team's choice.

Since 1997, Campbell and the NFL have been working together to tackle hunger, resulting in more than 20 million pounds of food being donated to food banks across the country.

Last season, Campbell donated more than 6 million cans of soup to food banks nationwide, and hopes to surpass that total this year.
