Bears sign Sherrick McManis to one-year deal

The Chicago Bears have re-signed cornerback Sherrick McManis to a one-year contract.

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears signed CB Sherrick McManis to a one-year contract.

McManis has appeared in 62 games with one start through five seasons with the Houston Texans (2010-11) and Chicago Bears (2012-14). Mainly contributing on special teams, McManis has totaled 54 special teams tackles to go along with seven tackles, once interception, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries on defense.

The Peoria, IL, native was originally acquired by the Bears through a trade with the Houston Texans prior to the start of the 2012 season. Since joining the Bears in 2012, McManis has totaled 38 special teams tackles, five defensive stops, one pass breakup and two fumble recoveries. His 38 special teams tackles leads the Bears since 2012.

McManis was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2012 when he tallied two special teams tackles and blocked a punt which was recovered for a touchdown by the Bears at Tennessee (11/4/12).
