Bears claim Denson; Waive Hicks

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears claimed running back Autry Denson off waivers from the Miami Dolphins today and waived running back Skip Hicks to make room on the Bears' 53-man roster.

Denson played for two seasons in Miami, appearing in 11 games in a reserve role in 2000 picking up 108 yards on 31 carries and catching 14 passes for 105 yards.

The 5-10, 203 pounder out of Notre Dame started one game and had 17 appearances in his two-year Dolphin career, gaining 98 yards on 28 carries in 1999.

He also recorded eight special teams tackles in two years and returned 20 kickoffs for 495 yards (24.8 avg.) in 2000.
