Bears place safety Ryan Mundy on IR

The Chicago Bears have placed vetearn safety Ryan Mundy on injured reserve due to a hip injury.

The Chicago Bears today placed veteran safety Ryan Mundy in injured reserved. Mundy injured his hip two weeks ago and has not practiced with the team since.

Mundy was making strides in his recovery but he recently suffered a setback and he'll be done for the season.

Mundy, a six-year NFL veteran who spent his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, started 16 games for the Bears last season and led the team in total tackles (103) and interceptions (4).

The loss of Mundy hurts Chicago's secondary depth but he was not slated to start this year. Mundy is a solid veteran leader and his presence in the locker room will be missed.
