Bears elevate DT D'Anthony Smith to active roster

The Bears have elevated DT D'Anthony Smith from the practice squad to the active roster and waived RB Antone Smith.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Chicago Bears elevated DT D’Anthony Smith from the practice squad to the active roster, waived RB Antone Smith, signed CB De'Vante Bausby and DL Davon Coleman to the practice squad and terminated the practice squad contract of DL Toby Johnson.

D’ Anthony Smith appeared in 10 games over two seasons with Jacksonville (2012) and Seattle (2013), recording 15 tackles – including one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit. Listed at 6-2, 300-pounds, Smith originally entered the NFL as a third round selection (74th overall) of the Jaguars in 2010 out of Louisiana Tech. He will wear No. 70.

Bausby entered the NFL this season as an undrafted free agent with the Chiefs out of Pittsburg State. Listed at 6-2, 179 pounds, Bausby appeared in 49 games during his collegiate career, collecting 127 tackles, 11 interceptions, 30 pass break-ups, six sacks and nine TFLs.

Coleman has appeared in four games with one start over two seasons (2014-15) with Dallas after entering the NFL with the Cowboys in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State. Listed at 6-2, 295 pounds, Coleman collected three tackles in those four contests.
