Bears place Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Goldman on IR

The Chicago Bears have placed wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and nose tackle Eddie Goldman on IR, officially ending their seasons.

The Chicago Bears today placed WR Alshon Jefffery and NT Eddie Goldman on the reserve/injured list.

Jeffery missed six games this year with calf and hamstring injuries, playing in just nine contests. He caught 54 passes for 807 yards and 4 TDs. Goldman, the club's second-round pick, appeared in 15 contests with 12 starts this season for the Bears, producing 39 tackles – including 4.5 sacks and six TFLs – along with 19 QB pressures. Goldman is currently fourth in the NFL among rookies in sacks (4.5).

Jeffery's hamstring issue is what landed him on IR, while Goldman suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

To fill the roster, the Bears Bears signed DL Greg Scruggs and DL Terry Williams.

Per Bears media relations:

Scruggs appeared in 14 games over three seasons (2012-14) with the Seattle Seahawks, collecting eight tackles, two sacks, seven QB pressures and one pass break-up. Listed at 6-3, 310 pounds the 2012 seventh round selection (232ndoverall) out of Louisville appeared in two postseason contests during his time with the Seahawks.

Williams entered the NFL with the Bears this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina. Listed at 6-0, 329 pounds, he had seven tackles including two tackles for losses in the preseason before spending the first month of the regular season on Chicago’s practice squad.
