Chicago Bears waive training camp punter Ben LeCompte

According to his Twitter account, punter Ben LeCompte has been waived by the Chicago Bears, meaning Patrick O'Donnell's job is safe.

The Chicago Bears have waived punter Ben LeCompte. LeCompte announced the news on his Twitter account.

The Bears signed LeCompte as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State, working him at both punter and on kickoffs throughout this off-season.

Cutting LeCompte means the job of former sixth-round pick Patrick O'Donnell, the club's starting punter the last two years, is safe.

To replace LeCompte on the roster, the team signed OL Dan Buchholz. Buchholz is an undrafted rookie out of Duquesne who started all 45 games he appeared in over four seasons (2011-15). He earned first-team all-NEC honors following his senior year. Buchholz originally joined the Bears following the NFL Draft in May.
