Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery misses Thursday's practice

Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (knee) was one of eight players who did not practice on Thursday and one of 16 on today's injury report.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery did not practice today due to a knee injury. He was a limited participant in yesterday's practice, so today's inactivity is a step backward for the Pro Bowl receiver.

As usual, head coach John Fox declined to comment on the significance of the injury or when it occurred.

"We’ll just see what tomorrow brings," Fox said after practice. "I think, obviously, it didn’t go as well from yesterday to today. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

Jay Cutler (thumb) sat out his second straight day of practice. His right thumb was wrapped as he stood on the sidelines.

If Cutler is unable to play, Brian Hoyer will make his first start for the Bears. Fox said the team will announce Cutler's availability 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday night.
