Former Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer has agreed in principle to a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
Hoyer, an eight-year NFL veteran, started five games for the Bears last season. He threw 6 TDs and 0 INTs during his five starts, which led some to believe the Bears would pursue him for at least one more season.
Instead, Hoyer today cleaned out his locker and said goodbye to his teammates. The Bears will face Hoyer and the 49ers during the regular season next year.
With Hoyer gone, it appears the table is set for Mike Glennon to join the Bears at some point tomorrow afternoon or evening.
