Chicago Bears re-sign WR/KR Deonte Thompson

The Chicago Bears have re-signed veteran wide receiver and kick returner Deonte Thompson.

The Chicago Bears have re-signed WR Deonte Thompson to a one-year contract.

Thompson has appeared in 37 games over five season with the Baltimore Ravens (2012-13), Buffalo Bills (2014) and Bears (2015-16), grabbing 39 receptions for 477 yards (12.2 avg). He also has added 71 kickoff returns for 1,803 yards (25.4 avg). Thompson finished 2nd in the league in kickoff return yards in 2016 (804) and 2nd in kickoff return average in 2015 (29.2) (minimum 10 returns).

Last season, Thompson posted career highs in almost every statistical category, recording 22 receptions for 249 yards (11.3 avg) and two touchdowns. He also posted career highs on special teams, totaling 35 kickoff returns for 804 yards (23.0 avg).

The Florida alum originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Ravens in 2012.
