Thomas puts up two touchdowns vs. Chargers

The Bears jumped out to a first quarter lead for the first time this season and never looked back against San Diego.

FIRST QUARTER: K Paul Edinger 38-yard field goal at 8:33: Key plays: On the first Bears first play Chris Chandler went to Justin Gage for a 24-yard completion. Two plays later the quarterback hooked up with Dez White for a 12-yard gain. Consecutive nine-yard carries by Anthony Thomas set up the Edinger field goal. Drive: 9 plays, 56 yards, 3:37. SECOND QUARTER: RB Anthony Thomas 1-yard run at 9:27. Key plays: Following a field goal block by Joe Odom the Bears took over at their 36. An 11-yard scramble by Chris Chandler moved the Bears near midfield. Three third down conversions kept the drive alive including a 15-yard run on third and one by Thomas, which set up first and goal for Chicago. Extra point by Paul Edinger was good. THIRD QUARTER: K Paul Edinger 22-yard field goal at 4:27. Key plays: A 16-yard punt return by R.W. McQuarters gave the offense the ball in San Diego territory. Anthony Thomas' 2-yard run converted a 4th and 1. The following play Chris Chandler pumped and then went to TE Desmond Clark for a 30-yard completion. The Bears looked to have a touchdown on a Chandler pass to Dez White, but the receiver dropped the ball in the end zone. Drive: 9 plays, 40 yards, 4:21. Bears 13, Chargers 0.

FOURTH QUARTER: RB LaDainian Tomlinson 3-yard run at 9:13: Key plays. Doug Flutie came in for Drew Brees and sparked a Chargers offense that had 85 total yards through three periods. Flutie went 3-4 on the drive for 35 yards and also had a 17-yard scramble. Extra point by Steve Christie was good. Drive: 8 plays, 74 yards, 4:04. Bears 13, Chargers 7.

FOURTH QUARTER: RB Anthony Thomas 1-yard touchdown run at 0:21. Key plays: A 36-yard punt return by R.W. McQuarters virtually sealed a Bears victory.
