The Chicago defense kept the Lions out of the end zone, but four Jason Hanson field goals proved to be the difference as the Bears drop to 3-6 with following a 12-10 loss to the Lions.

Key plays: A 7-yard completion from Chris Chandler to Dustin Lyman gave the Bears a first down for the first time in the game. The following play Anthony Thomas busted a 17-yard run, which moved the ball into Detroit territory. After consecutive incompletions and a penalty, Chandler went to Justin Gage for 17 yards on 3rd and 15.

Key plays: Four consecutive runs to Anthony Thomas resulted in just 15 yards, but it set up the passing game. Chandler hit Marty Booker in stride on a slant and the receiver picked up 23 yards on the play moving the ball to the Detroit 12. Extra point by Paul Edinger was good.

Key plays: Scotty Anderson and Joey Harrington hooked up on two completions that accounted for 36 of the 49 yards on the possession. For the third time on the day the Bears defense forced the Lions to settle for three points after getting in the red zone.
