Odom placed on IR

Of late it seems as if the Bears are putting a player on Injured Reserve each week and in keeping with that trend, the team placed LB Joe Odom on IR Friday because of a groin injury.

With the additional roster spot the team signed FB Jason McKie from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Joe Odom, who saw action in each of the Bears 10 games including three starts, compiled 23 tackles (16 solo), six special teams stops and a blocked field goal (vs. San Diego). The 6-1, 238 pounder who was selected in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, made his first NFL start against New Orleans (10/10) and led the Bears with 11 tackles.

McKie was signed to the Bears practice squad on Sept. 1 after being waived at the end of training camp (8/31). The 5-11, 239 pounder was was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2002 by the Philadelphia Eagles, waived, signed to the Eagles practice squad for the first 13 weeks of the season before finishing the year on the Cowboys 53-man roster. He was initially signed by the Bears on Aug. 19 after being waived by Dallas.
