Thomas is out vs. Cardinals

Bears running back Anthony Thomas will not be available for this Sunday's game versus Arizona due to viral pneumonia. Thomas was treated late Friday and did not significantly improve on Saturday ruling him out for tomorrow's game.

While Anthony Thomas is expected to make a full recovery over the next few days he will miss his third game of the year. Thomas still ranks among the top rushers in the NFC with 721 yards on 168 carries and four touchdowns.

At this point in the season Adrian Peterson is on Injured Reserve, so it looks like Brock Forsey will get his second career start. The rookie got the nod vs. Detroit (10-26) and helped the Bears to a 24-16 victory over the Lions with 56 yards rushing on 19 carries including an 8-yard TD. He also had a reception for 10 yards.

Roster move
The Bears placed tight end Robert Johnson on injured reserve Saturday with a fractured foot and signed tight end Gabe Reid to their active roster off the Tennessee Titans practice squad.

Johnson, a rookie out of Auburn, was waived by Atlanta last spring and claimed by Chicago (5/13/03). The 6-6, 270-pound rookie was on the team's non-football injury list with a wrist injury and was moved to the active roster on November 10.

Reid, a 6-4, 260-pound rookie out of Brigham Young, was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the New York Jets. After being waived by the Jets (8/31/03), he was signed to Tennessee's practice squad (9/10/03) where he has spent the majority of the 2003 season. He will wear jersey number 48 for Chicago.
