The NFL offseason features islands of activity to pass the time until training camps. The scouting combine is in the books and the draft is nearly two months away, so in between the NFL turns its attention to Tampa, Fla. where NFL Europe opens training camp this weekend.
Players allocated to the developmental league arrive in Florida for orientation beginning Friday. Most offensive positions begin training camp Friday, while defensive positions and offensive linemen report Sunday.
After passing camp and kicking camps opening Monday, the first full-squad practices will begin Wednesday. Combined practices and game-condition scrimmages are scheduled for mid-march. Teams depart for Europe later in the month, with opening day set for April 3.
The Bears' allocated players are:
Amsterdam Admirals: WR Andre Forde, LB Jerry Schumacher and DE Cliff Washburn.
Berlin Thunder: DT Israel Idonije and WR Aaron Boone.
Cologne Centurions: LB Marcus Reese.
P Brooks Barnard will not be assigned a team until the conclusion of the NFL Europe kicking camp in Tampa on Thursday, March 4.
