Newkirk Sidelined with Knee Injury

LAKE FOREST, IL - Chicago Bears defensive tackle Robert Newkirk injured his left knee during Thursday's (11/15) practice and will miss Sunday's game (11/18) at Tampa Bay.

The 6-3, 295 pounder had an MRI Thursday night and is scheduled to have an arthroscopic procedure performed this afternoon for a torn lateral meniscus. Rehabilitation time will be determined after this afternoon's procedure. Newkirk has appeared in each of the Bears eight games this season with one start (San Francisco) and has recorded eight tackles, forced one fumble and recorded a sack.
