Bears announce personnel changes

LAKE FOREST, IL — Most don't know who makes the Bears scouting department, but they're the backbone of the team as they spend hours roaming the country in search of the next All-Pro player.

The Bears announced three changes to their personnel department Friday. Scout Pat Roberts has been named the team's new southeast area scout, taking over for Phil Emery who was named Atlanta's director of college scouting May 18.

Roberts had been the Bears east area scout for the last six years and Rex Hogan, the team's football operations assistant for the last year, will take over that region.

Moving into the personnel department to take over Hogan's position as football operations assistant is Jeremy Snyder who was one of the team's video assistants last year.

Earlier in the week Bill McGrane retired for the second time after serving as the team's director of administration since 1998. His first stint in Chicago was in the same role from 1975-89.
