NFL Europe Review: Week 4

With the draft over the weekend, it was easy to forget there are Bears trying to make their mark in Europe. However, it was a big game for Kurt Kittner.

After three less than stellar appearances, Kittner found his rhythm against the previously undefeated Cologne Centurions.

Admirals starting QB Gibran Hamdan was injured on a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Kittner took over and immediately put points on the board. He found WR Ruvell Martin on a 60-yard touchdown breaking a 17-17 tie.

"It was a good play," Kittner said, whose single-game passer rating was 144.4. "It was the perfect defense to throw that route. One guys was sitting outside of him and the other guy was sitting inside and they both didn't know what the heck was going on, so I just threw it right past them."

Kittner finished the day with 158 yards passing on 9-of-12 attempts. It appears he will move into the starting role because Hamdan's injury was serious enough to go back to the United States for further evaluation.

Linebacker Derrick Ballard did his part to put the Admirals on top of the NFL Europe standings at 3-1. He forced a fumble and made one tackle.

On the losing end of a 37-24 score, Greg White started at right end for Cologne and picked up a sack and one tackle. Jamin Elliott returned two kickoffs for 25 yards.

The Rhein Fire are winless after four games. They dropped a 30-28 decision to Berlin.

Placekicker Nicholas Setta, who is expected to be one of three challengers to Paul Edinger, missed his only attempt. A 28-yard kick sailed wide right, which leaves him 4-of-6 on the season.

A.J. Ricker stared at center, as the Fire rushed for 192 yards. Bryan Anderson made an appearance as a substitute guard.

Hamburg won for the second straight week to even their record at 2-2.

Ryan Dinwiddie once again shined in a backup role. He completed 7-of-11 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.

In the Sea Devils 30-10 victory over Frankfurt, Dinwiddie hooked up with Zack Abron on a five-yard TD pass.

Abron finished the game with five receptions for 70 yards and eight carries for 21 yards.

Cliff Washburn started at left tackle for the Galaxy, who dropped to 1-3.
