Team Chicago used a strong final-week effort to outdistance a four-team field and capture the top spot on a fitness challenge on NBC's top-rated
morning program, the Today Show. Team Chicago, comprised of Chicago Bears employees Morrocco Brown, Sharon Lehner, Tony Medlin, Dean Pope and Lorelei Potts, competed against five-person teams from Los Angeles, Richmond and New York in an eight-week contest to lose weight, inches and body fat.
Team Chicago lost 30 pounds as a team in the final week and dropped 17 inches to gain 47 points, pulling away from Team New York, which led the Challenge for the first six weeks of competition before Team Chicago deadlocked the event in Week Seven. Potts was named the Female MVP of the event, losing 27 pounds, 13 inches and three percent body fat to gain 43 points for Team
Chicago, which earned a three-day, two-night stay at a spa in Tucson, Arizona.
"It was good to be part of a team," said Brown, the Bears' assistant director of pro personnel. "You had the health side of it, but then you had the competition, which gives you some drive. That helped out a lot."
"It was special to get a chance to represent the Chicago Bears in first class fashion," said Medlin, the club's equipment manager. "Not too many people get to be on that show."
Team Chicago: 198 Points (115 pounds, 64 inches, 19 percent body fat)
Team New York: 187 points (93 pounds, 74 inches, 20 percent body fat)
Team Richmond: 149 points (78 pounds, 49 inches, 22 percent body fat)
Team Los Angeles: 136 points (72 pounds, 49 inches, 15 percent body fat)
