LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears released tackle Blake Brockermeyer today. Brockermeyer started all 17 games for the Bears last season at left tackle.
The 6-4, 300-pounder played in 47 of 49 games for the Bears over the past three seasons (1999-2001) with 46 starts after signing with the Bears
as an unrestricted free agent in 1999.
The Texas native was originally drafted in the first round (29th overall) of the 1995 draft by the Carolina Panthers and was the youngest starting left tackle in the League that season. He played for four seasons (1995-1998) for the Panthers, playing in 60 of 66 games with 55 starts.
