The seventh annual Bears Care Gala will be held Friday, May 10th at 7:00 pm at the Chicago Ritz-Carlton.
Proceeds from the event benefit breast and ovarian cancer research and treatment programs at Cook County Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. Nearly 600 guests are expected to attend the Gala, including Bears Head Coach Dick Jauron and staff. Current players and alumni will be in attendance and former wide receiver Tom Waddle (1989-94) will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The Gala will include a raffle, featuring prizes such as a trip for two to the 2003 Super Bowl in San Diego, two round-trip tickets to any destination in the world United flies, $5,000 cash and the opportunity to travel to a Bears away game on the team charter with accommodations at the team hotel. Raffle tickets are available for $50 each or five for $200.
Ron Magers from WLS-TV will serve as celebrity auctioneer for the live auction. Live auction prizes include a "Salute to Soldier Field" package, which includes stadium seats from the "old" Soldier Field autographed by Chicago Bears players and coaches from the 2001 NFC Central Division championship team. This year's Gala will also feature unique live auction items including a Sunday champagne brunch aboard El Presidente, a cocktail party at Halas Hall, airfare for two and a walk-on appearance on the television show Providence, and a luxurious round-trip excursion for eight aboard a private jet.
