Scoring Summary: Bears 28-Vikings 3

Chicago – After reaching the end zone twice in the last two games, the Bears had an offensive explosion by their standards. RB Thomas Jones and TE Desmond Clark both came away with two touchdowns.

SECOND QUARTER: K Paul Edinger 23-yard field goal at 6:55. Good field position for the Bears quickly turned into the same scenario for Minnesota following a fumble on a botched handoff. Going back to block, center Olin Kreutz tripped Kyle Orton, who lost the ball trying to give it to Thomas Jones. The Vikings recovered just shy of midfield. Charles Tillman was flagged for holding Troy Williamson to open the drive. The next play he nearly picked off a ball in the end zone, but it was ruled a trap and held up after a replay challenge. QB Daunte Culpepper hit RB Mewelde Moore on a screen pass for a 22-yard gain. Moore then took a handoff 9 yards. Culpepper connected with TE Jermaine Wiggins on consecutive third downs to move the chains. First and goal from the 2 turned into a field goal thanks to a sack by Tommie Harris and consecutive penalties by Minnesota. Edinger connected after missing a 52-yard attempt and not being able to kick because of bobbled snap earlier in the game. Drive: 12 plays, 48 yards in 7:18. Vikings 3, Bears 0.

TE Desmond Clark 3-yard touchdown reception from QB Kyle Orton at 0:37. After doing nothing offensively in the first half, Bobby Wade caught a punt just outside the end zone and took it back 49 yards giving the Bears the ball in Minnesota territory. Orton took a sack on first down, but hit Wade for a 4-yard completion and a facemask penalty tacked on another five yards. Thomas Jones picked up a first down on the ground. Orton then went Mark Bradley for 15 yards followed by a 16-yard completion to Muhsin Muhammad two plays later. Orton hit Clark for his third TD pass of the season. The play had to be held up by review, but showed Clark broke the goal line before his knee touched the ground. PAT by Robbie Gould was good. Drive: 8 plays, 49 yards in 2:40. Bears 7, Vikings 3.

THIRD QUARTER: TE Desmond Clark 3-yard touchdown reception from QB Kyle Orton at 7:28. Thanks to a Charles Tillman interception and 55-yard return the offense started the possession working with first and goal. A bootleg by Orton fooled the Viking defense as he found Clark wide open for his second TD of the game. PAT by Gould was good. Drive: 2 plays, 3 yards in 0:36. Bears 14, Vikings 3.

FOURTH QUARTER: RB Thomas Jones 24-yard touchdown run at 13:03. Although Cedric Benson started the drive, it was Jones that played the key role. He made a block on third down that allowed Orton to hit Clark for a 7-yard completion and a first down. A pass interference penalty on Fred Smoot covering Bradley added 12 yards and another first down. Jones scored for the fifth time on the season. PAT by Gould was good. Drive: 7 plays, 62 yards in 3:43. Bears 21, Vikings 3.

Thomas Jones one-yard touchdown run at 4:15. The Bears took over at the Minnesota one-yard line after Culpepper was sacked on fourth down by Brian Urlacher and turned the ball over on downs. Jones reached the end zone for the second time on the day and sixth time this season. PAT by Gould was good. Drive: 1 play, 1 yard in 0:04. Bears 28, Vikings 3.
