Scouting Report: Draft Expert on Bryan Knight

Pittsburgh linebacker Bryan Knight, who is 6-1, 225 pounds and had a forty time of 4.74 seconds, was selected by the Bears with the 165 pick in the draft.

STATS & BIO: Three year starter that lined up at defensive end since he was a sophomore. Second team All-Conference selection as a senior when his numbers were 52/16.5/8.5. First team All-Conference performer as a junior when he totaled 74/26/11.5. Posted 69/9/3 his initial year with the first unit. Awarded All-Academic honors in the past.

THE GOOD: Athletic defensive prospect coming off a poor senior campaign. Plays low to the ground with leverage, smooth and fluid changing direction and makes plays laterally. Finds his way through the traffic to the ball carrier, displays great range and flashes on the scene. Knifes between defenders getting to the action and stays on his feet. Disciplined and not only concerned with rushing the passer, but defending the run as well.

THE BAD: Not big, fast and slow shedding blocks once engaged with the opponent. Did not show any special trait to his game last year after he seemed poised to take the next step following his junior campaign. Plays faster than his 40-time but still not fast for a linebacker and lacks the size to line up in a three-point stance at the next level.

THE SKINNY: Should definitely be given a look with the hopes that last year was an aberration.
