The Fox Valley Park District hosts its fifth annual Walter Payton Sweetness Run on Sunday, June 9. The run starts and finishes at Walter Payton's Roundhouse, a restaurant and historic location in Aurora, Ill.

The course combines scenic paved trails along the banks of the Fox River and is punctuated by a number of short hills. The event will again feature two distances (5K and 10K) open to men, women, wheelchair participants and children.

Over 1,500 runners competed in last year's event.

Payton, who died Nov. 1, 1999 of liver disease, attended the first Sweetness Fun Run in 1998. This year's host will be former Bears running back Thomas Sanders, a teammate of Payton's from 1985-87.

Two other members of the 1985 Super Bowl championship team, wide receiver Dennis McKinnon and running back Dennis Gentry, are also expected to attend the June 9 event.
