General manager has said the team will look to create competition for Robbie Gould, who connected on 21-of-27 field goals as a rookie.
The Bears have a handful of restricted free agents, including LB Hunter Hillenmeyer. There are three levels the club can choose to tender a player.
Level 1 is a one-year tender at $712,000 with the right to match any offer the player would receive from another club. Level 2 is a one-year tender at $1.55 million with compensation being a first round pick if the team chooses not to match the offer. Level 3 is a one-year tender at $2.07 million with compensation being a first round and third round pick if the team chooses not to match the offer.
Let the Festivities Begin
The Bears ninth-annual Fan Convention runs today through Sunday at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. The event will feature over 50 former and current members of the Bears, including Lance Briggs, Nathan Vasher and Rex Grossman.
Doors open for the event on today at 4:00 p.m. with the players being introduced at the opening ceremonies beginning at 7:00 p.m. Convention hours are Friday from 4:00-10:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Adult passes are $35 for the weekend, $20 for Friday or Saturday and $15 for Sunday. Passes for children ages 3-12 are $10. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. A very limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
