The Bears had a league-high seven players participating in World Bowl X Saturday in Dusseldorf, Germany, the NFL Europe championship game. The Berlin Thunder jumped out to a 20-0 lead and held on to beat the Rhein Fire 26-20, making them the first team in league history to win back-to-back championship games.

The star of the title game was Dane Looker (St. Louis Rams), who caught two touchdown passes on his way to being named the games MVP, but Chicago was still well represented.

Five Bears are on the Berlin Thunder and two are with the host Rhein Fire. Berlin wide receivers Kenny Christian and Ramondo North have made a nice showing. Christian has 32 catches for 390 yards and four touchdowns and North has 23 receptions for 261 yards and a touchdown. Offensive tackle Josh Warner has started the entire season for the Thunder. Linebacker Mawuko Tugbenyoh and safety Leo Barnes were acquired by the Thunder in late-season trades.

Tim Johnson, an all-NFL Europe selection, led the Fire in tackles with 64 and added two sacks, eight passes defended and an interception. Guard Stan Bennett has appeared in one game.

Than Merrill, who played for the Barcelona Dragons, rejoined the Bears for the last days of the team's voluntary mini-camp. The safety tied for the lead in tackles on the Dragons with 50.

There isn't a great chance the that any of these players will make the roster, but out of the group Johnson and Christian have the best chance.
