Earlier this year the Chicago Bears announced an exclusive charitable partnership with Special Olympics Illinois for the 2002 season. Late in the offseason, the Bears and Special Olympics Illinois conducted the Central Illinois Touchdown Tour through Champaign, Decatur, Bloomington-Normal and Peoria. Net proceeds benefited the Special Olympic athletes. The Bears will be actively involved with Special Olympic Illinois through player appearances, ticket donations, fundraising events and awareness programs. Special Olympics Illinois was created in 1968 when the First International Special Olympics Games were held at Soldier Field.
