Several Bears missed Sunday's practice with flu-like symptoms including Pro Bowl middle linebacker Brian Urlacher.

Defensive end Bryan Robinson missed Friday night's preseason game in St. Louis with a similar illness and remained out Sunday.

"B-Rob was sick over the weekend. Now Brian's got a temperature," Bears coach Dick Jauron said Sunday at Halas Hall. "I don't know exactly what they're calling it, but our medical staff sent him home. Hopefully he'll feel better later in the day."

Cornerback Reggie Austin also missed Sunday's practice with a similar sickness.

Battling back: Guard Chris Villarrial returned to practice Sunday for the first time since the second week of training camp, but he remains limited with a broken right thumb.

"Chris can't have any contact," head coach Dick Jauron said. "He's kind of in the same boat as (safety) Mike Brown (who's restricted by a broken hand), except at a different position so it's hard for Chris to take part in team drills. He'll take part in all individual stuff. We have to be careful with him in any other drill."

Third-round pick Roosevelt Williams, who missed the first two preseason games with a sprained ankle, also returned to practice Sunday.

"I was definitely ready to go," the Bears rookie cornerback said. "My leg was just a little stiff. That's to be expected. I have had a lot of rehab work on it since all of this happened. But, I have to tell you that it's been pretty frustrating. I don't want to stand on the sidelines. I'm here to do a job and that job is to be out on the field playing football."

Williams said he expects to play in Friday night's preseason game against Jacksonville in Champaign.
