Fan Fair: Message Board Post of the Week

Things are looking pretty bleak in the Rex Grossman Fan Club these days. After another poor performance against New England last Sunday, the former Gator will no doubt hear some boobirds this week at Soldier Field. But MidwayMonster54 compares Grossman's numbers to some of the all-time greats, and his diligent research earns him the Bear Report Message Board Post of the Week.

Hello, all. I've been reading posts as often as I can, even though I've only posted once, and I just wanted to throw some stats out there for everyone. These are the QB stats for players past and present in their first full season as the starter:

Comp Att Pct Yds TD INT Rating

Peyton Manning:
326 575 56.7 3739 26 28 71.2

Brett Favre:
318 522 60.9 3303 19 24 72.2

John Elway:
327 605 54.0 3891 22 23 70.2

Dan Fouts:
208 359 57.9 2535 14 15 75.4

Warren Moon:
259 450 57.6 3338 12 14 76.9

Rex Grossman (thru 11 games):
192 346 55.5 2390 18 14 77.6

Rex projected thru 16 games at current pace:
279 503 55.5 3476 26 20 77.6

I like Rex as a QB, and I think he is the answer even though I am a little disappointed in some of his performances. I think, as well, that his decision-making is improving, but he is just making some bad throws. Improving your throws, however, is much easier to fix and correct than bad decision-making. Remember, he has come back from two serious injuries in consecutive years.

One of the attributes I like the most is what I call 'swagger', being confident without getting cocky. I remember last year when they brought him in the second half I believe against the Falcons. As soon as he joined the huddle, the mood changed, and his first pass was like a 22- or 24-yard strike to Muhammed. They believe in him, and he has owned up to his bad performances. He is a winner, and I think if we stick with him, we will continue to win. I had a lot more to say, but I forgot. I'm a little nervous posting. Anyway, let me know what you all think.
