LAKE FOREST, IL — The Chicago Bears signed T Aaron Brant to a four-year contract today. Brant was selected by the Bears in the seventh round (241st overall) out of Iowa State. The 6-7, 320-pounder is the fifth of nine players chosen by Chicago in this year's draft to sign with the team. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brant earned all-Big 12 honorable mention from the league's coaches in 2005 and 2006 and was chosen as the Arthur Floyd Scott winner, awarded to the team's top offensive lineman following his senior season. He started 46 games during his four years with the Cyclones, the first 10 at guard before shifting to tackle for the final 36 games of his collegiate career.
Brant joins fellow seventh-rounder Trumaine McBride (221st overall) along with third-round pick Garrett Wolfe (93rd overall) and fifth-round selections Kevin Payne (167th overall) and Corey Graham (168th overall) as Chicago's signed draft picks. The Bears' four draft picks yet to sign are first-round selection Greg Olsen (31st overall), second-rounder Dan Bazuin (62nd overall), third-rounder Michael Okwo (94th overall) and fourth-round pick Josh Beekman (130th overall).
