In the Chicago Sun-Times, Mark Konkol and Lacy Banks write that ex-Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was indeed under the legal limit for alcohol according to the results of his blood test in Gilbert, AZ. "A Bears spokesman said Monday the club is taking a 'no comment' position. But a Bears insider said, 'Our decision to release Tank did not hinge on whether he was or was not legally drunk. It was a decision based on the accumulation of offenses and improprieties over a period of time.'" Read the rest of Konkol and Banks Right Here ...

In the Chicago Tribune, David Haugh reports that the Bears organization has come under fire for its decision to award two types of NFC championship rings, including a less-expensive version for below-the-radar contributors like the training staff and marketing department. "Both rings will be of similar style, but the ring of higher value, the 'executive ring,' will include more diamonds. It will be about the same size as the Bears' Super Bowl XX rings, a source said." At SI.com, Bucky Brooks unveils his list of the top 25 wide receivers in the NFL, but it's an absolute joke who he put at No. 20. "While receiver is one of the most glamorous positions in the NFL, these rankings are not based on the best highlight reel players and end-zone dancers." Read the rest of Brooks Right Here ...

At FOXSports.com, Roger Rotter actually has some good things to say about Rex Grossman from a fantasy perspective. "In addition, Chicago's offensive philosophy relies on the big vertical play in the passing game, increasing Grossman's fantasy value. He'll show that he's the big-time quarterback worthy to start in fantasy leagues this season, rather than struggle like a weekly fantasy flop." Read the rest of Rotter Right Here ...

Here at BearReport.com, John Crist consults some of the experts at Scout.com to see if free-agent-to-be Corey Simon would make any sense at defensive tackle in Chicago. "Corey Simon, the No. 6 selection in the 2000 NFL Draft out of Florida State and a Pro Bowl selection with the Eagles in 2003, should see his tenure with the Colts end very soon. Simon missed all of last season in somewhat mysterious fashion, but there's no mistaking that he was once a supremely talented player and a disruptive force in the trenches."
