Free Agent Analysis

The Bears added Christian Peter to the team as the season started. At the time the move was considered questionable because of the defensive tackle's checkered past, but during the season Peter didn't rock the boat.

In fact Peter did a nice job in primarily a supporting role. The veteran did start three games during the season, but that was out of necessity considering injuries to starters Ted Washington and Phillip Daniels.

With the future of Washington and Keith Traylor in doubt there is a chance Peter could return, but the more likely scenario is he'll move on as unrestricted free agent.

The Bears are looking to add youth on the interior of the defensive line, which means a draft pick will likely be spent on the position.

Alfonso Boone got a contract extension before the beginning of the year and started five games. However, he was demoted from starter after the Lions ran for nearly 200 yards against the Bears in Week 6. Boone started the last game of the year, but that was only because Traylor being inactive.

Bryan Robinson, who started the final six games of the year at DT, will couple with either Washington or Traylor as the starters next season.

Meaning Boone will be a backup, add a youngster in the offseason and there is little room for Peter on the roster.

Likelihood of Peter returning: 70-30 against.
