Preseason schedule

In the middle of winter with free agency and the draft ahead, there was a glimmer of the 2003 season as the Bears released their four-game 2003 preseason schedule Tuesday.

The Bears will play their two home preseason contests at Memorial Stadium in Champaign on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, while Soldier Field is being completed. Dates and times for the 2003 preseason games are yet to be determined.

Chicago will open the preseason schedule with two home contests. The Bears kickoff 2003 with a game against the Indianapolis Colts the week of August 7-11 and follow that with a game against the Denver Broncos, a home preseason opponent in Champaign last year, the week of August 14-18. Chicago concludes its preseason slate by heading west to play the Arizona Cardinals in Tempe the week of August 21-25 before making its initial trip to new Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Patriots the week of August 28-31.

Preseason games will be a part of season-ticket packages for 2003. Memorial Stadium ticket prices will be the same as during the 2002 season.

The Bears will open the regular season on the road with the new Soldier Field slated to open on September 28, which is the fourth week of the regular season.
