Bengals Waive Devon Still In Cut-Down To 53

The Bengals' cut-down to 53 players claims the roster spot of popular DT Devon Still and RBs James Wilder Jr. and Terrell Watson. A Bengals source says that Still's medical insurance is good for the next five years. Daughter Leah, a cancer survivor, will be covered under the NFL's health insurance whether or not Still is signed.

The Bengals today made the following 22 roster moves in reaching the NFL limit of 53:

* Released two players under the Waived/Injured category:

--LB Jayson Dimanche (knee)

--LB Marquis Flowers (shoulder)

(If Flowers and/or DiManche clear waivers, they will revert for 2015 to the Bengals’ Reserve/Injured list.)

* Placed one player on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list:

--LB Vontaze Burfict (knee)

(Burfict will remain with the team for rehab and meetings, but may not practice for Weeks 1-6 of the regular season. Beginning the week following Week 6, he will begin a window of eligibility to return to practice under a roster exemption, if medically cleared.)

* Terminated the contracts of two vested veterans, releasing them to free agency:

--CB Brandon Ghee

--S Shiloh Keo

* Waived 17 players:

--WR Michael Bennett (rookie, Georgia)

--G Dan France (first-year player, Michigan State)

--G Tanner Hawkinson (third-year player, Kansas)

--CB Troy Hill (rookie, Oregon)

--G Trey Hopkins (second-year player, Texas)

--WR Jake Kumerow (rookie, Wisconsin-Whitewater)

--TE Matt Lengel (rookie, Eastern Kentucky)

--K Tom Obarski (rookie, Concordia-St. Paul)

--OT Matthew O’Donnell (first-year player, Queens (Canada)

--S Floyd Raven Sr. (rookie, Texas A&M)

--LB Trevor Roach (rookie, Nebraska)

--C Jake Smith (rookie, Louisville)

--DT Devon Still (fourth-year player, Penn State)

--HB Terrell Watson (rookie, Azusa Pacific)

--QB Keith Wenning (first-year player, Ball State)

--HB James Wilder, Jr. (first-year player, Florida State)

--DT DeShawn Williams (rookie, Clemson)

PRACTICE SQUAD: With the exception of Devon Still, all players waived today will be eligible to be signed to an NFL practice squad if they clear waivers tomorrow. The Bengals plan to announce tomorrow a practice squad of up to 10 players.
