Dareus Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Marcell Dareus is the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week.

In Week 5, no player was more disruptive for the Buffalo Bills than Marcell Dareus.

Today, Dareus was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Against the Detroit Lions, Dareus notched three sacks, a career-high in one game. He also accounted for five solo tackles and a forced fumble.

This is the first time Dareus has been named the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week. On the season, Dareus has 19 total tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble. Dareus' five sacks rank third in the NFL, and first among all defensive tackles.

Dareus' award is the third time that the Bills have had a player honored in 2014. Dan Carpenter and C.J. Spiller won the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award in Week 1 and Week 2, respectively.
