Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that Hadley Engelhard, Williams' agent, was given permission by the Bills to gauge trade interest from other teams.
Bills GM Doug Whaley confirmed that Engelhard requested a trade and said the following on the matter:
"If he gets me compensation worthy of a No. 1 wide receiver which he claimed he is, then we would entertain it."
The Bills traded a sixth-round pick for Mike Williams and will not get No. 1 WR compensation.
Whaley added that the team isn't actively shopping Williams or any other player on the Bills. That said, the Bills and any other franchise in the NFL would trade a player if the right offer came along.
